The symposium held by the Damascus branch of the Arab Writers Union, in which researchers, writers and critics participated, dealt with the novel “Escape to the Zamhirir” by the playwright Samir Adnan al-Matrood from various aspects that came in the topics of the novel and its artistic construction.

Critic Iyad Murshid, Director General of Al-Assad National Library, pointed out that the novel “Escape to Al-Zumhrir” came out of the writer Matroud in writing from his theatrical style to reach an open novel text where he portrayed the village in its various and multiple stages of life, addressing poverty, backwardness, strict customs and traditions and wrapped in flimsy love and in the face of any change and development in Life may come to an end.

And the Director General of Al-Assad Library indicated that Al-Matrood mocks his theatrical experience by presenting the novel through separate scenes that integrate with each other to form one narrative body. between positive and negative.

As for the writer Tawfiqah Khaddour, she explained that the novel refers to the crushing of love in front of customs and traditions, and then in front of money and lust, in addition to the fact that the hero who appeared in the beginning of the novel came to present us with the image of a negative human being crushed in front of circumstances.

Khaddour said that the novel bears many features of realism, but it did not carry any hope in its body or conclusion, as the writer criticized a negative social phenomenon that dominates our lives, which is giving priorities to the children of families in many cases.

The novel expressed the audacity to break into many transformations and turmoil in an intense and successful artistic way, while critic Ahmed Helal saw that the novel comes with its facts, narratives and narrative statement as a resumption of a theatrical work that is the pain of the village moon in the novel. From the classical tendency of the novel, whose language came to deal with the poetics of the narration, especially at the level of the monologues of the characters, and Saleh is a model in which voices intersect, including the implicit author's voice, i.e. the expelled novelist who spoke out what his hero Saleh wants.

In the novel, there is a series of connected and separate narrative units at the same time, according to the novelist’s fragmentation and his dealing with language in an artistic style. methodology.

The seminar was concluded by the author of the novel, the writer Samir Matroud, to show the basic meanings he wants in his novel, and that this novel will be complemented by another novel, and that he benefited in writing it from his poetic and theatrical experience.
