The

Adopciones

Quilmes

animal shelter

is in emergency like never before, after the tragic fire suffered during the night of this Monday.

The flames practically consumed the cat flats sector.

15 cats that were housed there died, while another 10 were lost and five more are hospitalized.

The non-profit organization does not rule out that it was an arson but, beyond that, they need help to rebuild the shelter, for which they released a savings account in which donations can be made and through their social networks receive any other type of collaboration.

The association is dedicated to rescuing stray dogs and cats, curing them in their shelter and then trying to find a home for them.

The organization is well known in

Quilmes

, so when the event broke out, many people came to help them at its headquarters

located in Guido 1170.

The unfortunate event happened around 21 on Monday.

The fire broke out in the cat flap where there were

30 kittens

.

The neighbors gave notice to the volunteer firefighters of the town and thus it was possible to prevent the flames from reaching the area where the dogs were staying.

They had to tear down the cat flats because of the danger of collapse.

The group's sadness is still manifested in stories they share on Instagram in which, among other things, you can see the five hospitalized kittens.

From the group they assure that they suffered respiratory problems but that they are recovering and are stable, although they have

some minor burns

.

The cat flap was completely destroyed and

there is a danger of collapse

so the NGO will have to tear it down.

"It is not yet known how the fire started. We do not rule out the possibility that the fire was intentional. Today the experts and scientific police were working and it is not ruled out at all.

We are asking for witnesses and people who have seen something or someone strange.

", assured Sandra Fleitaf, a member of Quilmes Adoptions.

"We don't get threats, but it's pure evil. We have no idea how someone can do such a thing," Sandra added.

One of the things the association will need are transit homes for the cats in the hospital when they are stable, to house them while they rebuild the collapsed sector.

Quilmes firefighters on site.

The part that the fire did not reach is that of the dogs.

The association stated that the animals are

fine but "quite upset."

Sandra says that they are "scared" by what happened yesterday but that "within everything they are fine."

It is a very sad moment.

We cannot express what we feel, what happened, it is a huge void that totally surpasses us.

Mourning is for them, for our cats

, ”the association said in a statement.

The group had the help of many neighbors who came to collaborate.

Although the fire is now out, the rebuilding process will take time.

For now, those who want to provide support can do so through the paid market 0000003100075381843300, alias: Alfa.dog.cat.aq or through Banco Comafi: 2990098709800267820004
