Today, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine “General Command” held a memorial festival to commemorate the forty-day anniversary of the death of the Front’s founder and Secretary General, Ahmed Jibril, at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
The Secretary-General of the Front, Dr. Talal Naji, recalled in his speech the deeds and virtues of the deceased and his struggle, describing him as the strategic leader in the Palestinian struggle and resistance, stressing that the militants will continue to follow his path of resistance until victory, liberation of the land and the return of rights.
Naji saluted and thanked all the countries of the axis of resistance and the free people of the world who stand by the Palestinian cause and defend it.
Member of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, in turn, pointed out that the late was a symbol of the resistance against the occupying Zionist entity, rejecting all forms of surrender, indicating that resistance is always the right way, and whoever believes that humiliating concessions restore rights is delusional.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Dr. Mahdi Sobhani, affirmed his country's continued support for the Palestinian cause, indicating that history will perpetuate the name of the late Jibril for his heroic stances, which were based on the resistance.
In turn, the Yemeni ambassador in Damascus, Abdullah Ali Sabri, indicated that the late struggle's march will remain inspiring and a beacon for future generations.
For his part, the official in charge of the Palestinian file in Hezbollah, Hassan Hoballah, stressed that the resistance is the only way to take rights and liberate the land.
Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Abu Ahmed Fouad said: We pledge the late and all the martyrs and the Palestinian people to continue the resistance and struggle against all projects aimed at undermining our national principles until the liberation of Palestine, praising the role of the resistance axis countries in providing assistance and support to the Palestinian cause, especially Syria.
In an audio message, the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, indicated that the late Gabriel was one of the prominent figures of the Palestinian people, and he left this world after a life full of sacrifice and redemption, stressing that the Palestinian people will always remain loyal to the Syrian leadership, people and army for its firm stances on the Palestinian cause.
Gabriel, born in the village of Yazour in Jaffa in 1937, founded the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine “the General Command in 1968 and was its general secretary until his death on the 7th of last July.
