The city will start sending out voting notifications.

Around 920,000 Munich residents are allowed to tick their boxes on September 26th.

With 480,000 women are clearly in the majority.

Munich - Here we go: From Thursday, the city will send notifications for the federal election on September 26th.

According to information from the district administration department (KVR), delivery is made in waves and will be completed by the end of August.

The authority advises anyone who has not received voting notification by September 1 to contact the electoral office immediately (briefwahl. Kvr@muenchen.de).

Bundestag election: 65 direct candidates in the four voting districts in Munich

According to the KVR, around 920,000 people are entitled to vote, with women clearly in the majority: the ratio is 480,000 to 440,000 in favor of women voters.

Around 40,000 Munich residents are allowed to put their crosses in a federal election for the first time.

Due to relocations and deaths, the number of people entitled to vote may change until September 26th.

In 2017 there were 923,612 eligible voters on election day.

A total of 65 direct candidates are running in the four electoral districts of the state capital: 18 in the northern electoral district, 17 each in the east and west / center, and 13 in the south.

With the second vote, 26 parties can be elected (see sample sheet on the right).

In the 2017 federal election, the CSU in Munich * received 30.0 percent of the vote.

The Greens came to 17.2 percent, the SPD to 16.2 percent, the FDP to 14.2 percent.

AfD and Left ended up roughly on par with 8.4 and 8.3 percent, respectively.

Munich: Number of postal voters is likely to increase - clear trend towards federal elections

The four direct mandates all went to the CSU.

The former winners Bernhard Loos (north), Wolfgang Stefinger (east), Michael Kuffer (south) and Stephan Pilsinger (west / center) will compete again.

In all four districts there should be an exciting race between the CSU applicants and the candidates from the Greens and SPD.

It is also expected that the number of postal voters will increase.

KVR boss Thomas Böhle (SPD) says: "We have seen a clear trend towards an increase in postal votes since 2013." In the 2017 federal election, the rate was 43.4 percent.

It is assumed that there will be more this time, explains Böhle and adds: “We are prepared for that.” In the 2020 local elections, the proportion of postal voters was already 53.6 percent.

The modalities and deadlines for the postal voting documents are described in detail on the notification letter from the KVR. You can apply for postal voting in writing or online (www. Briefwahl-muenchen.de). Personal collection is also possible.
