Gaißach - The Sparkasse's plans to withdraw from Gaißach have led to angry reactions in the local council.

"I was really annoyed when I found out about this from the newspaper," emphasized District Councilor Susanne Merk.

Recently at the association meeting of the Sparkasse, the explosive topic was not discussed with a single word.

The withdrawal from their customers does not correspond to the clearly defined mandate of the savings banks.

Local councilor Christopher Hummel spoke of a "scandal that annoys me immensely".

In 2020, the savings banks would have “made huge profits to run away now.

When I look at their statutes, I see that they are not doing their job ”.

In the long term, of course, behind this strategy lies the endeavor to get rid of the annoying cash

The slogan 'Sparkasse in der Region' sounds like a mockery.

Gaißach's mayor Stefan Fadinger spoke of a "creeping thinning of the local infrastructure".

The victims in this case are "older and less mobile people who cannot cope with online and telephone banking".

This undermines the requirement of social participation.

“It's not like that, just sending people to Bad Tölz or Lenggries so that they have to drive around even more.” The slogan “Sparkasse in the region - for the region” sounds like a mockery.

Self-service station the very least

Fadinger is clear that the Sparkasse branch as a whole will not be preserved.

The very least, according to the mayor, would be for the community to continue to have a self-service station with the option for savings bank customers to make payments, print out bank statements and make transfers - possibly also by way of a free cooperation with the neighboring Raiffeisen bank.

With these key points as a requirement, the municipality will address a resolution to the Sparkasse.

Two councilors even suggested that customers should switch to the Raiffeisenbank right away if the Sparkasse put them in front of the door.

Incidentally, the Sparkasse does not have a completely free hand in its own building in Mühl: The mayor made it clear that the municipal council “will not agree at all” to a lucrative change in the use of the Sparkasse ground floor in living space.

He suggested that the Sparkasse could create sales areas there in a good location that could be easily combined with a service point of the financial institution.

That has already proven itself in many places.
