A 23-year-old motorcyclist died.
The police are looking for a dump truck driver.
Kinsau - On Tuesday, around 8:05 p.m., three motorcyclists drove together on the B 17 from Schongau in the direction of Landsberg. According to the Landsberg police, a 22-year-old from the Landsberg district was the first to drive a BMW; second was a 22-year-old from the Ostallgäu district with a KTM and third was a 23-year-old from the Landsberg district with a Suzuki.
Shortly after the gas station near Kinsau, the three motorcyclists switched to the left lane to overtake a tractor and a dump truck.
In this area there are two lanes in the direction of Augsburg.
The first motorcyclist was able to overtake the dump truck and the tractor.
Immediately before the second motorcyclist, however, the dump truck changed to the left lane, according to Landsberg police.
The second motorcyclist was able to prevent a collision with the dump truck by emergency braking.
The third motorcyclist realized the situation too late and collided with the rear of the motorcyclist in front of him.
As a result, he came to the opposite lane and crashed into a tractor-trailer that was driving towards Schongau.
The truck was driven by a 67-year-old from Rhineland-Palatinate.
23-year-old motorcyclist dies at the scene of the accident
The dump truck and the tractor continued their journey without stopping in the direction of Landsberg.
The 23-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
The 22-year-old driving in front of him was uninjured.
The total damage to both motorcycles was around 5,500 euros.
By order of the Augsburg public prosecutor's office, an expert was called in to prepare an accident analysis report.
Police are intensively looking for dump truck drivers - witnesses wanted
The Landsberg police station is currently searching intensively for the fugitive dump truck driver.
According to the current state of investigation, it is a green dump truck from the manufacturer MAN.
