A fatal industrial accident occurred in Western District. Staff of the two Leisure and Cultural Services Department plummeted more than 7 meters while repairing a tree. A female worker was sent to hospital and died.
At about 9 am today (18th), at the junction of Water Street and Third Street in Western District, two staff of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department boarded the elevator platform and trimmed the trees at a height of 10 meters above the ground.
During the period, the boom position of the lifting platform was suspected to be broken, and the two staff members together with the lifting platform plunged about 7 meters and stopped at a position 3 meters above the ground.
Among them, the 55-year-old female worker was once trapped on the elevator platform. She fell into a coma and was rescued by the fire. The female victim was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance, but died after being sent to the hospital.
As for the male staff, they were sober with low back pain. According to the news, the two were tree staff members of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and they had both buckled their seat belts at the time of the incident.
At the scene, the elevator platform was seen to be slanted and police officers were investigating the case.
