Freising

- What's next with the Freising vaccination center?

This question was discussed on Wednesday afternoon at the round table in the district office.

There were no official results at the time of going to press.

However, the following procedure is emerging: The vaccination center will shortly be largely reduced, and the use of mobile vaccination teams will be expanded.

The resident doctors will do the vaccination of the population outside the retirement homes.

Medical spokesman Georg Miedl: We have to remain flexible

With the end of funding from the federal government at the end of September, all federal states want to stop operating their supraregional vaccination centers. Basically, after the centers are closed, vaccination should be transferred “regularly” from the vaccination centers to the doctor's offices. This was reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk on Wednesday, citing the editorial network Germany. "In principle that is correct," said Hubert Böck (BRK), the deputy head of the Freising vaccination center, commenting on this news. However, it is by no means the case that the Freising vaccination center in the Stein barracks is being closed - it is merely being driven back. The vaccination center will remain operational until at least April 2022 so that it can be reactivated immediately if necessary. This was also confirmed by district office spokesman Robert Stangl and Georg Miedl,Spokesman for the Freising District Medical Association.

Miedl reports that the future vaccination campaign has already been discussed with District Administrator Helmut Petz.

According to this, it is also conceivable that if there is a corresponding need, vaccinations will not only be carried out on the move, but also in the form of a kind of "basic service" as a "stationary" vaccination, i.e. in the stone barracks.

“The basic structures have to be preserved,” emphasizes Miedl: “It would be a big mistake to close the vaccination center.

We must continue to be as flexible as possible.

So far, the cooperation between all those involved in the vaccination campaign has worked really well. "

General practitioners will also vaccinate bedridden people

Until the end of August, the vaccination center is still busy with 500 second vaccinations a day, reports Böck. In September they will only carry out a few first vaccinations there. It is mainly young people who are currently getting vaccinated. At the same time, the mobile vaccination teams, which will then take over the booster vaccinations in the senior centers, will be expanded. As Böck reports, the staff at the vaccination center has already been reduced and new or extended employment contracts have been concluded with a view to expanding the mobile vaccination team.

When changing the vaccination campaign, there are of course a few questions: Who will, for example, vaccinate those over 80 years of age who will soon need a booster but will not (can or want to) see the family doctor?

Medical spokesman Miedl makes it clear: "These individual vaccinations will probably be a matter for the resident doctors." The use of mobile vaccination teams is too complex here.

Vaccination demand is rising again

Doctors in private practice will not run out of work. Miedl reports that there is increasing demand for vaccinations: On the one hand, according to the recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission, more young people over the age of twelve can now be vaccinated. On the other hand, patients who had previously only "watched" the vaccination campaign now also expressed their interest. The background is primarily the planned restrictions for non-vaccinated people and the chargeable tests from October. The doctor's spokesman also emphasizes that, despite all the routine, a Covid vaccination is still associated with a much higher need for education than a flu vaccination - especially for young people.

Nevertheless, Miedl hopes that "after the very long phase of very high stress in the doctor's office, you will slowly return to normal".

What the helpers had done was "great".

Now you have to take a deep breath - and not neglect the medical care of the population outside of Corona.

Only detailed questions such as the third-party vaccinations of the medical staff at the clinic are still open.

It must also be clarified by the end of September how the third vaccination, which may take place six months after the second vaccination at the earliest, is documented.

These are the questions that were discussed at the round table on Wednesday.

Results should be published on Thursday or Friday.
