The Iraqi forces announced today that they had thwarted a terrorist attempt to target gatherings of citizens on the Karkh side of the capital, Baghdad.
A statement by the Baghdad Operations Command, carried by the Iraqi News Agency, said that "its detachments were able to thwart a terrorist act aimed at harming citizens, after an intelligence force noticed a masked person riding a motorcycle whose actions aroused suspicion and suspicion in the Al-Washash area in Baghdad."
The statement indicated that "the suspect was pursued, forcing him to throw what he was carrying of weapons and explosive materials, including three grenades, as he fled in one of the Karkh sector areas," noting that the search for the accused is still continuing, while weapons and explosive materials were confiscated.
On the other hand, the Iraqi Federal Intelligence Agency arrested three terrorists from the Al-Taqa Towers bombers in Diyala Governorate, eastern Iraq.
A special source in the agency told SANA’s correspondent in Baghdad that “the agency’s detachments were able, after a careful intelligence effort, to track the movement of three terrorists involved in the bombing of al-Taqqa towers in Diyala province and to set up a tight ambush for them and arrest them north of Baquba, the provincial capital,” adding that the terrorists confessed to their crimes. They were referred to the court.
