The day before yesterday (16th), the police took an arrest operation and arrested a 50-year-old man named Lin for "breaking into the house".

It is known that the man was reported to be unemployed, and preliminary investigations believed that he committed all the cases alone.

Senior Inspector Xu Hanfang, Chief Inspector of Team 1A of the East Kowloon Region Crime Squad, told the case that there were 5 tenement burglaries with similar tactics in Tsuen Wan and Sau Mau Ping from April last year to August this year.

The culprits mainly targeted the three-no tenement, that is, tenements without closed-circuit television, iron gates, and security guards. They went upstairs to explore the road during the day. When it was confirmed that the unit was empty, they would use the burglary tools buried nearby. For example, stylus and screwdriver, forcibly breaking the iron gate and wooden door of the unit, entering the house and looting, and stealing the householder’s property such as cash, mobile phone and jewelry, the total value is about 440,000 yuan.

Based on in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, the police targeted a 50-year-old local man of Chinese nationality.

The day before yesterday (16th) the East Kowloon Regional Criminal Headquarters conducted an anti-burglary operation in Tsuen Wan. During this period, the target man was suspicious and nervous, and hurriedly left a tenement building.

The detectives quickly stopped him and searched, and found a screwdriver, stylus and other burglary tools in his backpack, as well as found a large number of suspected lost items of unknown origin.

Police officers also seized a batch of suspected lost items, including about 2,000 yuan in cash, 5 mobile phones, a box of cordyceps, an ATM card and two bank books.

After repeated checks by the detectives, it was confirmed that part of the lost property came from the head of a certain unit in a nearby tenement house, so the 50-year-old man named Lin was arrested on the crime of "breaking into the house."

The police believe that the arrested person was involved in at least six tenement burglaries in Hong Kong.

It is known that the man was reported to be unemployed, and preliminary investigations believed that he committed all the cases alone.

He is currently being detained for investigation and will continue to investigate in the direction of resale of the lost property. It is not ruled out that more people will be arrested.

The police emphasized that burglary is a very serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum sentence is 14 years' imprisonment. People should not try the law.

The police appeal to all citizens, especially those who live in the "Three Nos" tenements, to take appropriate home security measures, such as installing closed-circuit televisions and avoid storing large amounts of cash in their homes to prevent criminals from taking advantage of it.
