Kinsau - A 23-year-old motorcyclist from the Landsberg district died yesterday evening shortly after 8 p.m. in a traffic accident on the B17.
The cause of the accident was the driver of a green MAN dump truck.
He continued driving without bothering about the victim.
The police then launched a manhunt.
As the Landsberg police spokesman Matthias Kammerer explains, the 23-year-old was traveling with two other motorcyclists, both 22 years old, on the B17 in the direction of Landsberg. Shortly after the gas station near Kinsau, the trio switched to the left of the two lanes heading north to overtake a dump truck and a tractor. The first motorcyclist managed to do that, the second was forced to brake hard when the dump truck suddenly swerved to the left - with fatal consequences: The following 23-year-old recognized the situation too late, collided with the rear of the two-wheeler in front of him and subsequently hit the Oncoming lanes. There he crashed into a semitrailer truck driving in the direction of Schongau. He injured himself so badly that he died at the scene of the accident.
Both the green dump truck and the tractor continued their journey without stopping in the direction of Landsberg. The police are looking for the two fugitive drivers and asks witnesses to report: Tel. 08191/9320.
