As the assessment that the state budget will pass in the Knesset grows stronger, there are almost no ways left for the opposition to overthrow the government.
In the polls, the coalition can continue to decline and Netanyahu can continue to climb, it will not change anything in reality without the government somehow disintegrating.
Attempts to drive a wedge within the coalition and look for new rebels against the budget will continue until the last minute somewhere in mid-November, but at the same time the Likud is trying to break its head in other ways as well.
These actions come from the understanding that the money in the current government is too liquid and will be distributed in abundance to anyone who demands it, and the safety net of the joint list is too thick, so what is seen on paper, a coalition on the tip of a ballot, does not fully reflect reality.
Thus, the Gantz option actually became the only option observed on the horizon.
Ganz does not bother to deny it, since his status is strengthened within the government whenever there is a fear that one day he will run away from them, and the Likud is talking about it out loud.
Just this week he said: "I could be prime minister, and I think I can be prime minister at any political point in time."
Ganz fears media hype against him, but in the event of a catastrophe or the government continuing to lose ground in public, he will be justified in making a move.
Netanyahu is not waiting for that.
He knows that the relationship between him and Ganz is a significant obstacle on the way to the realization of the plan.
He also knows that Gantz will not come before the budget.
The only thing he lacks is to be appointed prime minister and try to immediately pass a budget that could bring him down.
And what will happen then?
Recently, Netanyahu shared with opposition figures the possibility of agreeing with Gantz on his appointment as prime minister through constructive distrust of the government without rotation.
That is, without an agreement on the date of the change of government between him and Gantz, and Netanyahu will be the deputy prime minister until the election.
It is estimated that the opposition will be able to formulate 61 MKs for such a move.
There is no doubt that if such an offer is passed it will wink at Gantz, but the reason will still be lacking.
Aside from upgrading the proposals, senior opposition figures will have to provide Gantz with the ladder, and only then discuss how high it will be.
