Report: U.S. Representatives in Germany Affected by Havana Syndrome

The Wall Street Journal reported that at least two Americans had symptoms that included vomiting, severe headaches, earaches, fatigue and insomnia.

At least two U.S. envoys stationed in Germany are suffering from symptoms of Havana Syndrome, U.S. diplomats told the Wall Street Journal.

The symptoms, which include vomiting, severe headaches, earaches, fatigue, insomnia and exhaustion have started to appear in recent months and some of the victims have been unable to work.

These are the first cases reported in the NATO member state, where U.S. forces are stationed. U.S. diplomats said similar incidents were reported among U.S. officials stationed in other countries on the continent, but declined to elaborate. Which dealt with issues related to Russia such as gas exports, cyber security or its interference in the politics of other countries.

The first time these symptoms were detected was in 2016, among American diplomats in the Cuban capital, hence the phenomenon was given the name Havana Syndrome.

Since the reported symptoms similar to China and Russia, and more recently in Austria, which is not a member of NATO. Other cases, unverified, were reported in Poland, Taiwan, Georgia and even in Washington, DC.
