When the staff of the two Leisure and Cultural Services Departments were repairing trees in Western District, the lift platform plummeted more than 7 meters due to a suspected malfunction. A female worker was sent to hospital and died.

At about 9 am today (18th), at the junction of Water Street and Third Street in Western District, two staff of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department boarded the elevator platform and trimmed the trees at a height of 10 meters above the ground.

During the period, the boom position of the lifting platform was suspected to be broken. The two staff members and the lifting platform crashed about 7 meters and stopped at a position 3 meters above the ground.

Among them, the 55-year-old female worker was once trapped in the elevator platform and in the air. She fell into a coma and was rescued by the fire. The female victim was sent to the hospital by ambulance but died.

As for the male staff, they were sober with low back pain. According to the news, the two were tree staff members of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and they had both buckled their seat belts at the time of the incident.

At the scene, it was seen that the lift platform was hit and tilted, and a LCSD vehicle with "Hong Kong West Tree Group" was parked nearby. Police officers were investigating the case.
