Tehran-Sana
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed today that America and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) must compensate for the damages inflicted on Afghanistan during its two-decade occupation.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Zarif as saying in a tweet on the social networking site Twitter that despite all their rants about democracy and the war on terror, the events in Afghanistan and the positions of the United States and NATO prove that, by invading and occupying Afghanistan and other regions, they were only seeking to achieve their interests. But they have not even achieved those goals, noting that the United States and NATO are now obligated to compensate for the damages.
The developments of events in Afghanistan accelerated with the Taliban entering the capital, Kabul, the day before yesterday, and taking control of most government institutions, amid chaos in the city's airport as a result of thousands of people crowding and rushing on the runway to leave the country.
