The families of those who perished in the Mount Meron disaster set up a committee this week that works to provide financial and psychological assistance to the parents, spouses and children of the dead.

The commission calls on Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to intervene immediately, and the State Commission of Inquiry to allow them to appear before it with information as to "the negligent and criminal disaster that resulted in the loss of the lives of 45 innocent civilians and the destruction of 43 families."

The committee also warned that "if the family members continue to be ignored, they will go to a national struggle against those responsible for the disaster and against those responsible for ignoring these days."

Also, in a letter sent to former Supreme Court President Miriam Naor, who serves as chair of the inquiry committee, the committee requested a permanent representation of three to five families in the courtroom.

The committee also stated that it was established with legal advice that would require the execution of the law, the establishment of a compensation and assistance mechanism for families and the taking of measures to prevent a similar disaster.

It was also stressed that the families demand to check "Abu Kabir's failure in which families were forced to view dozens of photos of bodies as a way of identifying their loved ones."

"The rift caused by the disaster in the sacrifice of dozens of families is even deeper in the face of the opacity and indifference of the decision-makers.

In a letter the committee sent to an enlightened retired judge, he criticized the "contemptuous attitude" towards them.

According to the committee, he had already asked the committee to appear before it and to maintain a permanent representation of the families in the courtroom - a request that was received in a negative response: "We were informed by the committee spokeswoman "Perhaps curious citizens are coming to 'hang out' in the courtroom."

"The heavy disaster is joined by the difficult feeling of the families who have become transparent for the authorities, transparent for the decision-makers and it turns out that they are also transparent for the committee you head," the committee attacked.

It was also written that since the disaster occurred, on April 30, at the annual celebration of Lag B'Omer by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, "no one has bothered to come to terms with the families seriously to provide mental or physical assistance to those who destroyed their world overnight."

The committee also noted in a letter to Naor that so far no one has asked the family members for relevant information regarding the events of the disaster.

"Families have important information about the disaster, information about conversations with the victims before the disaster happened, as well as the degrading treatment they received at the Abu Kabir compound, and of course the degrading and humiliating treatment they receive in the form of total disregard by the authorities."

"As if there was no disaster and as if there are not hundreds of family members whose world has been destroyed because of a national failure to abandon sincere worshipers who have placed their trust in those who were supposed to maintain their safety and security."
