Bamako-Sana
Eleven soldiers were killed and others wounded in an ambush targeting a military convoy in central Mali today.
Reuters quoted the army as saying in a tweet on Twitter that a car bomb exploded as a military convoy passed, followed by heavy gunfire, killing 11 soldiers and wounding ten others, nine of them seriously, and efforts are continuing to remove them from the site.
The army added that it was not yet clear who carried out the attack.
Since 2012, Mali has been in a state of instability due to armed groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and the terrorist “ISIS” that are active in the border triangle region between Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.
