American Airlines plans to sell wine delivery 1:12
(CNN) -
American Airlines reported that it will not serve alcoholic beverages on its flights until January 18, 2022, the date on which the order for the use of masks on public transportation in the United States is expected to expire.
"We do everything possible to create a safe environment for our crew and customers aboard our aircraft," the airline said Thursday in a note to its employees.
American suspended alcoholic beverage service in the main cabin of its flights in early summer, but planned to restore service on Sept. 13, the original expiration date for the mask-wearing mandate.
On Tuesday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that it would extend the term of office until January 18 "to minimize the transmission of covid-19 in public transportation."
Covid-19 cases have skyrocketed in the United States in recent weeks due to the transmission of the delta variant of the coronavirus.
American Airlines also said it is "gaining ground" to help curb the sale of carry-away alcohol at airports, as part of the FAA's fight against unruly airline passengers.
Undisciplined passengers
On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposed more than $ 500,000 in new fines against unruly airline passengers who they said refused to wear masks, beat flight attendants and they even threw the luggage around the cabin.

And on Tuesday, the FAA noted that, based on 3,900 incident reports, it has opened 682 investigations into possible violations of federal law.
Many airlines first suspended alcohol sales in spring 2020 to minimize interaction between crew and passengers and ensure safer flights.
