Bad Wiessee - At the most recent annual general meeting of the Bad Wiessee home and folk costume association, the focus was primarily on the new building of the traditional costume hut.

Tradition, customs, conviviality and joie de vivre were already committed to the Wiesseer Trachtler in 1927. Even the difficult Corona period of the past two years could not change that. If board member Georg Erlacher was unable to report on any joint events at the most recent annual meeting, the board had used the paralyzing time to think about the future of the local folk costume association. This includes the plans to relocate the cozy, but narrow traditional costume hut from Söllbach to the spa gardens of Abwinkl.

The annual forest festival has been taking place there for decades.

In order to implement the plan, many official cliffs had to be overcome, the 230 members questioned and a decision made using the latest technology.

"We have to turn the hut a bit, but otherwise the plan is in place," announced Georg Erlacher, who has been holding the strings of the traditional club in his hands since 2018 - supported by Alois Fichtner as a board duo.

Mayor Robert Kühn there

Thanks went to the Wiesse municipal councils for their extensive support.

This also includes contributing 40,000 euros of the estimated new construction costs of 150,000 euros from the municipal treasury.

"We are still launching a public appeal for donations," announced Erlacher.

Some members have now received around 12,000 euros.

The meeting in the Postsaal decided unanimously to double the membership fee from the previous 10 euros.

With humorous farmer's cleverness, board member Georg Erlacher had previously been able to persuade the new Wiesseer community chief to join the association, as it should be for an incumbent mayor.

The 38-year-old Robert Kühn - in office since May 2020, SPD member and passionate suit wearer in the finest thread - promised in his greeting that he would also appear in traditional costume at the next annual meeting.

Longstanding members honored

“This also applies to the costume parade, which you are supposed to go with,” added traditional costume legend Wolfgang Schäffler, whose word carries weight, with his powerful voice.

He himself was surprised by the members for special merits with a title and certificate as the new honorary board, which visibly touched him.

Honoring longstanding members was also on the agenda, for which framed certificates, needles and flowers were presented:

  • For 25 years of membership to Matthias Bernhardt, Sebastian Bernhardt, Michaela Zehetmeier, Elisabeth Trinkl, Steffi Raßbichler, Markus Trinkl, Dagmar Schäffler, Regina Reifenstuhl and Ingrid Versen.

  • Ursula Zischg, Peter Niedermaier, Anton Neumayer, Herbert Mereis, Egid Höß, Annemarie Herzinger, Franz Erlacher, Angelika Stickl and Christl Estner have been there for 50 years.

  • Werner Krones, Leni Glonner, Hans Erlacher senior and Franz Berthold were honored for 60 years of loyalty to the association, as well as Marianne Schäffler, Margarita Glonner, Paula Ringshofer, Elisabeth Obermüller and Franz Wagner for 65 years.
