The relief operation of the Ainhof electrician Roland Hamberger in the town of Dernau, which was badly hit by the flood, continues.

Ainhofen

- The relief campaign for the flood victims, which was launched by the Ainhofner electrician Roland Hamberger (we reported), is progressing: After Hamberger and helpers had set up an emergency power supply in several streets in the severely affected flood victim town of Dernau, the Ainhofen resident is now taking Responsible for coordinating electrical specialists.

This is how he managed to get MAN Truck & Bus Germany to provide a flatbed truck and a 7.5-ton truck for further transport of electrical equipment without any ifs or buts.

On his second visit to the disaster area, Hamberger was accompanied by his wife Nicole and two other young Ainhofers, namely the brothers Jonas and Benni Geisenhofer.

Hamberger's private bus was full of electrical equipment donated by friends.

Confidence in reconstruction not lost

The committed Ainhofner's goal was Kevin Schüller's electronics store in Dernau.

Hardly anything was left of his tools and the furnishings in his shop due to the flood, but he has not lost the courage and confidence to rebuild.

Of course, Schüller is not only interested in his business, but also in the many other houses that were badly hit by the flood.

Of the 640 houses in Dernau, 590 were partially badly damaged.

Hamberger has now sat down with Schüller again to determine what electrical material should still be delivered.

The material that has already been ordered should be delivered by Sonepar in a few days.

Then Hamberger wants to go to the disaster area again with a six to eight-man squad.

The accommodation of the helpers is now also regulated. “We are staying at the THW Schwandorf in the helper camp. This helper camp was set up by the THW within a week. Tents and shower stalls are ready for us here. The helper camp is made available by a small sports club near Dernau, ”said Hamberger.

Currently, Dernau can hardly be approached due to police barriers.

The officers would only allow material deliveries if parking is available.

"Because there is no space, no parking, large vehicles, excavators, fire brigades, Red Cross, THW, Bundeswehr and other aid organizations everywhere, so that the streets are only passable in one lane," reports Nicole Emrich-Hamberger.

“Dust everywhere through the dried mud.

Every vehicle that drives through Dernau creates large clouds of dust, so you can quickly feel a scratch in your eyes ”, Emrich-Hamberger continues.

Therefore, fire brigades would constantly drive through the streets with their water cannons.

"Oil" is written in large letters on a row of houses, an indication that the THW still has to remove oil here.

There are also a number of uninhabitable houses that cannot be overlooked.

The nearby Haribo plant has set up a meeting point for helpers.

From there, shuttle buses go to the affected villages.

"The helpers get out with their own tools and go to the houses assigned to them and start right away when the plaster has to be removed from the completely soaked walls," observed Emrich-Hamberger.

Many of the homeowners are speechless because of the great willingness to help.

Not to be overlooked are the thank you posters in all shapes and colors on the houses.

Search for helpers on Facebook

As a thankful gesture, the small group from Ainhofen sees two women pulling a handcart through narrow streets, which was intended for the helpers up to the top with sweets. There is also no shortage of drinks for the many volunteers. The residents of Dernau fear, however, that the longer the disaster has passed, the sympathy of the unaffected citizens in the country will decrease significantly. Hamberger would like to counter this by looking for electricians in all helper groups on Facebook.

“The feedback has been immense. Starting next week, alternating teams of electricians can be sent to Dernau on a regular basis. Electricians from all over Germany have joined, and everyone knows us on the Facebook group 'Indersdorf hilft', "says Roland Hamberger happily, who also points to the Dernau disaster relief donation account at the Kreissparkasse Ahrweiler. The bank details are: DE 08 577 513 101 000 562 569. Purpose: "Indersdorf helps".
