Manuel Halbmeier is the name of the new managing director of the food-enjoyment-restaurants union (NGG) between Zugspitze and Watzmann.
The 34-year-old will take over the management of the NGG region Rosenheim-Oberbayern with immediate effect and will take care of the concerns of employees in the food and hospitality industry - also in the district of Miesbach.
He succeeds Georg Schneider, who is retiring after 40 years at NGG.
"From locations of the Danone and Meggle groups to village butchers and handicraft bakeries to ski hotels and beer gardens - the food and hospitality industry plays a very important role in southern Upper Bavaria," explains Manuel Halbmeier.
“NGG is already well positioned in the region.
Now it is a matter of further improving people's wages and working conditions - with works councils, collective bargaining agreements and new members. "
Corona crisis affects employees

According to the Federal Employment Agency, the food and hospitality industry in the NGG region of Rosenheim-Upper Bavaria employs around 52,000 people.
Strikes at Danone and Alpenhain
The native of Middle Franconia is regarded in trade union circles as a determined fighter for the cause, reports the NGG.
For example, he has organized several strikes in the Rosenheim area in recent years, including at Danone and Alpenhain.
He does not avoid conflicts.
Halbmeier also messes with companies when they hit heavy artillery, explains the NGG.
As in the case of the cheese manufacturer Alpenhain, who tried - unsuccessfully - to forbid the trade unionist from entering the company premises.
“Anyone who stands up for the concerns of the employees must not be made of sugar,” comments Halbmeier.
In the end, the commitment usually pays off because no company can do the math without employees.
For example, Alpenhain recently succeeded in concluding a corona company agreement, which is a role model for other companies in terms of infection protection and occupational medical support.
Via sister union IG BAU to NGG
The trained forest manager came to the NGG union through the sister union IG BAU, where he also did his training.
For the past four years, Halbmeier worked as a union secretary in Rosenheim after a stopover in Augsburg.
His aim is to consolidate the NGG as a reliable ally of the employees in the region. "Whether for the bakery saleswoman or the slaughterhouse employee - the union has to be there for the people, listen to them and bring about improvements for them," says Halbmeier.
