An opinion poll conducted by the Afrasia Foundation for Social and Political Studies predicted that the leader of the Turkish Republican People's Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, would win over the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, if the presidential elections were held now.

"For the first time, Kılıçdaroğlu is ahead of Erdoğan as a candidate for the nation's alliance," the foundation's director general, Kemal Ozkiraz, said in a statement.

He added, "53.9% of the respondents said they would vote for the leader of the Republican People's Party against Erdogan, who would receive 46.1 percent of the vote."

Ozkiraz expected the leader of the Good Party, Maral Aksanar, to lead Erdogan by 6.4 percent of the total vote.

The poll predicted an absolute and resounding defeat for Erdogan in the event that he competes with the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Emamoglu, or the mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavas.

Ozkiraz confirmed that Imamoglu will lead Erdogan with 17.8 percent of the vote after 58.9 percent of voters vote for him, compared to 41.1 percent for Erdogan.

He added that on the other hand, 57.4% of the citizens said that they would vote for Mansour Yawash if he competed with Erdogan, who would then vote for him by 24.6 percent of the citizens.

Criticisms and voices opposing Erdogan's policies are increasing, and support for his party is declining as a result of his practices at all levels, which have led to a catastrophic deterioration of economic conditions in Turkey and suffering from crises at various levels.
