A safe start to school despite Corona: To make this possible, the district is now ordering CO2 traffic lights and ventilation devices for its schools.

District

- It's not even half-way through the summer holidays, but preparations for the return of the students to the classrooms are already in full swing in the district.

As the district office tells our newspaper, the procurement of CO2 traffic lights and ventilation devices will be initiated promptly.

This should ensure safe classroom teaching despite the recent increase in the corona numbers.

As reported, after intensive discussion, the district council made a two-stage decision: All rooms that are well ventilated should have a CO2 traffic light, all others a fan.

The inquiry of the school administration with the heads of the district schools yielded the following result: 327 CO2 traffic lights and 28 air purification devices are in the inventory (vocational school Miesbach, grammar school Tegernsee and support center Hausham).

That means that 144 traffic lights and seven fans still have to be ordered.

Investment in the five-digit euro range

Since the award process is only just beginning, no costs can be named, says District Office spokeswoman Sophie Stadler.

But you have to reckon with a "middle five-digit amount".

Due to the manageable number of devices, timely procurement and commissioning are realistic.

The new fans go to the Miesbach vocational school and the Tegernsee high school.

The secondary school in Gmund is also receiving a device because a room there cannot be well ventilated in the summer heat.

The three schools built in a public-private partnership (PPP) also receive CO2 traffic lights despite the stationary ventilation system, Stadler announced.

In this way, pupils, parents and teachers could also be sure that there is enough fresh air.

Retrofitting stationary systems is not an option

Retrofitting stationary systems in all schools is utopian, adds Stadler.

This would "not only devour a high amount of millions, but would also massively burden and restrict school operations for several years".

Stadler refers to the "drama" around the secondary school gym in Holzkirchen (we reported), where one and a half years of planning have already gone into the country.
