In a sea of big waves, to which he was accustomed,
the Mar del Plata surfer Carlos Di Pace died on Thursday morning
on the beaches of Boca de Pascuales, in the Mexican Pacific.
It is believed that he fell from the table, struck a stone or the bottom and lost consciousness.
He was rescued by other surfers, although attempts to revive him were in vain.
The news shocked the atmosphere of the sport of Mar del Plata.
Di Pace, 48, was a lifeguard at Punta Mogotes resorts, a good swimmer as described by local media, and surfed big waves.
He was one of the promoters of Stand Up Paddle and
joined the Argentine surf team in 1994
.
From a family of tables, his brother Santiago was two-time Argentine champion.
According to the newspaper El Commentary, of the University of Colima, Di Pace
was rescued by other surfers
and it was they who practiced first aid maneuvers.
He had died when Red Cross personnel arrived.
The director of the Municipal Civil Protection Unit of Tecomán, Mexico, Roberto Campusano, told the university newspaper that on Thursday morning the sea in Boca de Pacuales presented
