Marktoberdorf - Business closings can no longer be justified, says Manfred Brandt, old and new board member of the Aktionkreis Marktoberdorf e.

V. in conversation with the district messenger.

The owner of the pet shop "Tierisch Gut" is optimistic about the future, in which the action group intends to continue strengthening the shopping and gastronomy town of Marktoberdorf with numerous events.

At the recent annual general meeting, Brandt was confirmed in his office by the members. He will be supported by deputy and second member of the board Xaver Martin from “Mode Martin”, secretary Michael Denks from Kreisbote and the assessors Petra Wachter (Atterer Cooking and Giving), Martin Hiemer (Café Greinwald), Verena Thoma (Sportmode Huttner) and Robert Herbst (Musk Marketing). Brandt praised the association's homepage recently redesigned it in an appealing way and brought it up to date. In addition, the action group was able to win Phillipp Heidrich as treasurer, who is responsible for the city's city marketing and city center development on a full-time basis.

In terms of content, the action group aims to support craft businesses, retailers, but also banks and restaurants in the city through advertising, campaigns and events. The association has been organizing the open Sundays at the Martini market, the Urbanimarkt and on the two days of the fair for years. The campaign group's voucher campaigns have also been firmly established for a long time. The participating shops can be recognized by the clearly visible stickers “Aktionkreis Marktoberdorf” at the shop entrances. A QR code is printed on this, which takes you directly to the list of shops in which they can be redeemed. Incidentally, the same QR code is also on the vouchers themselves.

However, the association is currently starting an analogous campaign. For future school starters, timetables were distributed to the city's primary schools, on which every ABC shooter can enter his subjects. With the signature of the class teacher, a timetable becomes a voucher in no time at all, for which the first graders can get a scoop of ice cream in Café Greinwald.

The “Star Stroll” is also planned for this year. Traditionally on the last weekend in October, the participating retailers open their shops until 10 p.m. There you will also be able to experience numerous events. You can easily recognize these shops by a burning torch or a small fire in the entrance area. The application for this action is just being launched, said Brand. He came to talk about Corona. Brandt said that new specifications for the catering and retail trade were still pending, but he was convinced that business closings could no longer be justified in the future due to the progress made in vaccination and the reasonable hygiene concepts of the traders. The experiences of the last year have shown, so Brandt further, that there is more space and fewer customers in the smaller shops than in the large supermarkets that offer everything. On the contrary, he has no doubt that leaving the smaller shops and stores open would better distribute the customer traffic overall and thus straighten out the infection rate. “The shops here in Marktoberdorf are not as full as you always think,” he emphasized. “You can shop with us much more pleasantly. There aren't 45 people crowding the cash register. "“The shops here in Marktoberdorf are not as full as you always think,” he emphasized. “You can shop with us much more pleasantly. Appeal to the citizens

As a concrete example of the flexibility of many retailers, Brandt mentioned the “Schuhhaus Sepp”, where customers were first advised by telephone before buying and then the goods were even brought to the shop door.

At this point, Brandt also appealed to the citizens of the city and the surrounding area to support local retailers instead of the large online providers.

This will not only save the local economy, but will also ensure the city's attractiveness as a place to live and live.

In this breath, Brandt referred to the “win when shopping” raffle campaign: with every purchase for ten euros, customers receive tokens that take part in a raffle.

In addition to many smaller prizes, there are three main prizes worth 1000, 500 and 250 euros.
