The campaign alliance #ausstieg - mobility turnaround now!

plans a rally with thousands of cyclists on Saturday, September 11th.

In Graefelfing, the participants are to drive from the southwest onto the autobahn.

Würmtal

- Cyclists are guided into the city center on 17 routes to show that fewer cars mean better mobility.

The action alliance is taking the International Motor Show, which is no longer just a car show in Munich, but a mobility fair, as an opportunity to call for a traffic turnaround: Fair distribution of public space with priority for walking, cycling and public transport ”, counts Martina Tollkühn, communications officer at ADFC Munich.

Würmtaler have networked

In addition to the ADFC, VCD, Naturfreunde Deutschlands and Bund Naturschutz are among the sponsors of the alliance. Their Würmtaler representatives have networked in order to mobilize together for the rally including demo. The Graefelfinger Green City Council Martin Feldner (ADFC Munich) is the meeting leader for the northern Würmtal. Erika Harder (Naturfreunde Würmtal), Heinz Moser (VCD Starnberg) and Sebastian Fuchsberger (ADFC Starnberg) and Katharina Horn (Bund Naturschutz Kreisgruppe München) complete the team.

"We want to support our policy in the Würmtal, which is on the right track," says Feldner.

"Such a rally can anchor the traffic turnaround in the public." Feldner continues: "We want to motivate the citizens to think so that they support the current politics more strongly." he doesn't pay off ”, the Munich - Starnberg express bicycle route and the fact that“ the current mayors are no longer fighting for bypasses ”.

Starting point at the Graefelfinger community center

The starting points in Neuried and Planegg are still in preparation, three more have already been decided: It should start at Gautingen Town Hall at 12.30 p.m., at Kraillinger Brewery at 1 p.m. and at Gräfelfinger Bürgerhaus at 1.30 p.m.

According to the current planning, the cyclists from Weilheim, Starnberg, the Würmtal and Neuaubing will meet here as the A3 train to travel together on the A96 towards Munich.

The A1 and A2 trains from Augsburg, Fürstenfeldbruck, Germering, Herrsching and Seefeld should already be on the Lindau autobahn in Freiham Süd.

Lawsuit in preparation

The district administration department as the assembly authority forbade the use of the A96 as well as the A94 in the east of Munich. “In particular the autobahn directorate and the police subordinate to the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior have made it clear that they basically do not want protests on the autobahn. The action alliance wants to take legal action against this ban at the Munich Administrative Court, ”says Tollkühn. The lawsuit is being prepared and should be filed next week. Especially on the autobahn, a symbol of German transport policy, it must be possible to “demonstrate for a fundamental change in mobility”. At the beginning of June this was not a problem on the A7 near Kassel.

“More and more motorways are being built. We don't think that's the right policy, ”says Feldner. He himself has only been on the motorway once by bike: as a child on a car-free Sunday during the 1973 oil crisis.
