A good week ago, the train drivers' union GDL called for a nationwide strike.

Now work should be stopped again next week.

Munich - It was less than two weeks ago that most of the trains in Bavaria were idle.

Now the German Train Driver Union (GDL) has announced another two days of strike in Germany-wide passenger traffic for the coming week.

The connections in Bavaria are also affected.

The strike will take place between Monday, August 23, at 2 a.m. to Wednesday, August 25, at 2 a.m.

Freight traffic will be on strike from Saturday, August 21st, at 5 p.m.

GDL strike in Bavaria: travelers need to know that now

As with the most recent work stoppage, Deutsche Bahn expects that 25 percent of the train connections can be maintained. Replacement and emergency timetables are already available in the Bahn app and on bahn.de. Important traffic axes have priority. A two-hour connection offer is planned there again. In regional traffic, the train is aiming for a 40-minute cycle. If you have any questions, the free strike hotline is now available on (0 80 00) 99 66 33.

The DB also announces extensive goodwill regulations: “All long-distance tickets that have already been booked for routes affected by the GDL strike from August 23rd to 24th inclusive remain valid and can be used flexibly from August 20th to September 4th inclusive can be used ”, it says on the website.

In addition, the train connection has been lifted for saver and super saver prices.

Tickets already booked for this period can be reimbursed free of charge.

Also in the second #GDL strike, the #DB will ensure a reliable mobility offer.

In addition, extensive goodwill regulations apply.

Once again, Deutsche Bahn will do everything it can to keep the impact as low as possible.

Rail strike in Bavaria: How travelers still get to their destination

Private railways such as the Bayerische Oberlandbahn, the Bayerische Regiobahn and the Länderbahn run independently of the GDL strike.

"Our trains run normally according to schedule," said a spokeswoman for the Bavarian Regiobahn.

If, in addition to the train drivers, train attendants and service personnel, the dispatchers also stop their work, private railways can experience delays, explained GDL spokesman Erik Großmann.

DB Personnel Director Martin Seiler has a clear opinion on the renewed GDL strike: “The second announced holiday strike is completely unnecessary and superfluous. Everything that is needed for solutions is on the table. "The Bavarian district chairman of the GDL, Uwe Böhm, cannot confirm:" There were no 'black and white' offers on paper, only declarations of intent in front of microphones and cameras. "
