Schliersee

- All you have to do is open the window and prick up your ears to be part of the Schliersee Cultural Autumn 2021. When the Schlierseer brass band under the direction of Wolfgang Mundel puts their instruments to their lips on Thursday, October 14th at 8 p.m. on the atmospherically illuminated vineyard, it can be heard through the whole place. "Klingender Weinberg" is the name of the event that stands like a rock in this troubled time for culture.

"Even if nothing works again: It will definitely work," says Johannes Wegmann, chairman of the Schliersee Touristik-Verein, which is the 13th edition of the series of events together with the guest information and the Josefstaler Elefant club The Polt family set off - and after the failure in 2020 they want to see it through under guarantee this year.

To ensure that this works despite the possibly tightened hygiene regulations again in autumn, Wegmann and his team rely on one thing above all: maximum flexibility. As reported, the concerts and cabaret appearances will take place at only two places this year: in the farmer's theater and in the parish church of St. Sixtus. Because precisely these two traditional sites are ideally suited for the special space concept that the guest information center around Mathias Schrön and Marion Riedl has worked out.

Instead of different categories, guests can only choose between hall and gallery when purchasing tickets. The guest information will decide exactly where you are sitting after the booking has been received. In other words: the earlier you buy the ticket, the better the view. However, the seats are only assigned when all cards are gone. "This way we can make the best possible use of the capacities," explains Riedl. This is especially true if someone orders tickets for several people (a maximum of six are possible). “We can then put them together without any spacing.” So where exactly they need to go, the audience will only find out when they enter. To ensure that everyone comes to their seat relaxed and, above all, without being rushed, admission begins an hour and a half before the curtain goes up.

Wegmann, Schrön and Riedl realize that this year they hardly have to advertise the cultural autumn.

Since the venues - as of now - can only accommodate about a quarter of the usual number of visitors, the advance booking should end quickly despite the higher ticket prices of 19 to 30 euros (also necessary because of the artist's fee guarantee).

But so that everyone who was not lucky can also enjoy the cultural autumn, admission is free for around a third of the 18 dates.

For example at the art exhibition by Nele von Mengershausen in the Vitalwelt or at the photo show on the subject of mountains in the joint in the local history museum.

The latter has an “art encounter” with one of the three photographers every Thursday evening.

Because the exchange between friends of culture is something that Wegmann and Schrön are even more dear to their hearts this year than usual. Wegmann remembers that they often wished for "enjoy the encounters" in the greetings of earlier editions of the Kulturherbst. “Before the outbreak of the pandemic, who would have thought that it would be made so difficult?” The 2021 series of events should convey a feeling of serenity and ease and at the same time guarantee the safety of everyone involved - on stage and in front of it.

It was precisely in these special times that it became clear how valuable the cultural autumn network that has been established over the years actually is.

Gerhard Polt in particular once again used his contacts to lure well-known names from home and abroad to Schliersee.

"In addition to regionality and authenticity, this is one of the pillars on which the success story of the Kulturherbst is based," emphasizes Schrön.

With a view to the lifeline “Klingender Weinberg”, the Kuramtsleiter makes it clear that she will get a new chapter in 2021 after the compulsory break in the previous year, that cannot even prevent a potential fourth wave of infections.

“In an emergency, we put the musicians ten meters apart and set up loudspeakers.” So that the wind instruments can be heard on every balcony in town.
