A corona-compliant annual exhibition was recently organized by Bernhard Kleinhenz, chairman of the Tölzer Land art association.

The works of the participating artists are distributed among shops and restaurants.

Bad Tölz - Many people crowd in a confined space in front of the exhibited works of art, plus there is sparkling wine and snacks: Unfortunately, a vernissage as we know it is not possible this year for known reasons: This is how Bernhard Kleinhenz, chairman of the Kunstverein Tölzer, opened Country, on Saturday the vernissage that wasn't. Instead, this time the works of the participating artists are distributed among shops and restaurants. “People don't have to come to art, but art comes to them,” said Kleinhenz. You can look at them, completely Corona-compliant, from the outside in the shop window - or if you are in the restaurant to eat or drink coffee anyway. This is exactly what Mayor Ingo Mehner found a great idea: "This is a low-threshold offer that also reaches people, who otherwise tend not to go to a museum or gallery, ”he emphasizes. And praises the board of directors of the art association for their motivation to break new ground, while many others in the cultural field are apathetic and have lost their vigor.

Works in shops and restaurants

Instead of appetizers, there are gummy bears packed in small bags, instead of open champagne or wine glasses, small water and soda bottles are on offer. The exhibiting artists and their associates gather in front of Robert Sentef's gallery in Säggasse. In this one can admire works by himself and Jürn Ehlers. There the artist's hiking day starts across the old town, from exhibition site to exhibition site. How much the usual exchange was missed in lockdown can be seen everywhere: In fact, as on the school trip, everyone is constantly entangled in conversations. Kleinhenz struggles to get the troops to leave. The first station is directly opposite. Michaela Bräunche has exhibited works in the corridor of the “Kolberbräu”, as well as in the “Sensual Pleasures” shop window next door. The colleagues crowd in front of the objects and ask the artist some questions. Then Gerhard Rabe takes over the leadership. At the “IsarMac” his pictures can be admired in the shop window. Lively exchange here too. The “Café in the South” shows works by Thomas Müller. Surrounded by greenery, in a truly southern ambience, he explains his objects.

Eleven artists take part

Eleven artists take part in this exhibition. In addition to the named are Gabi Dräger ("Jailhouse" in Moraltpark), Julia Geist (Restaurant Ludwig's, Golf Club Wackersberg), Birgitta Goerke ("Naughty" at Amortplatz), Birgit Haas Heinrich (Landhotel "Moarwirt" in Dietramszell), Ursula Hügelmeyer ( Ristorante San Giorgio, Kohlstattstrasse), Tina Kappus ("Einbachmühle") and Gerhard Rabe, who is not only represented in "IsarMac", but also in "Forellenhof Walgerfranz". After the lockdown, the intention was to be able to show the audience “live” pictures again, emphasizes Kleinhenz. Michaela Bräunche came up with the idea of not presenting them in a common room. In addition to protection against infection, this offers another advantage: “Every artist works differently, has different perspectives and presents differently. This is all the more effective when his works stand for themselves, ”says Kleinhenz. And that the art association is opening up to the outside world is an option beyond Corona. After all, there used to be exhibitions on the banks of the Isar. One could build on that. (Sabine Näher)

The exhibition

runs until Thursday, September 30th, during the opening times of the restaurants and shops.
