Stop, Password: How long will computers be loaded? | Israel today

Every man has a question of security in the name of his mother's youth and his sister's pet. Maybe enough?

After a week of testing, booster vaccination and enrolling for a new school year at home, I should make a note: I do not know if you noticed, but what we have been doing most recently is inventing passwords.

That's what I do.

Embraces the head, conceives a logical combination, invents acronyms for a name or a curse or a joke, splits them into uppercase and lowercase letters, types them, types them again - and receives an error message.

What happened?

Turns out I typed them in the wrong line, that of the sequence of curved characters meant to make sure I'm not a robot, even though only a particularly sophisticated robot can guess why the liquid and distorted stain in front of me is actually the letter devalue or the number 4. Type again.

Password changed successfully!

And again an entry page.

I did not manage to register the new password.

Now you will remember if the percentage mark is before the date of birth or in the middle of it.

And enough.

enough.

it's killing me.

Five times a day I visit personal areas.

And everyone has a name.

And a password, and a question of security given to him by the name of his mother's youth, and his sister's pet, and the hospital where his cat was born.

And they should all be listed in a separate file, under the name of the unsuspecting file: "Boring and unimportant items at all" or "Interpretations for Seder night", so that the hacker will not suspect at all and will continue to search.

So sometimes you forget, or do not update, and then get an error message, because the password has been changed, and you have to go through a simple procedure of choosing two means of identification - say, the date of issue of the ID card (a matter that every normal person remembers by heart, of course). And the passport number (easy), Gilat Bennett's maiden name, the hospital where Picasso was born and his favorite song ("Fire, Brothers, Fire").

Then you need to get a new password in the email, go to the email, copy it, paste it, and then - replace it.

Easy: A combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and punctuation.

Without consecutive marks and do not repeat a character twice.

Minimum 8, maximum 12. Wow!

Strong password!

Red color!

A sense of security floods the whole body.

This.

It is now possible to go to the HMO to book an appointment for the vaccine.

And perhaps, if I may be allowed to, one may wonder for a moment: is it really that important?

And let's say that the system will be a little less hermetic, let's say that it will be allowed to choose a sequence of consecutive characters, and that someone will actually be able to go through this fire screen, guess my password and log into my Netflix account - what exactly will happen?

Will he watch an entire episode of "Paper House" at my expense?

And if he penetrates directly into my personal area at the HMO (unpleasant, really invading privacy), and knows my bad cholesterol status - is it really worth the never-ending nightmare of combining lowercase and uppercase letters and my grandmother's maiden name?

Then I discovered that not everyone is that heavy.

One site exactly what is friendly, automatically remembers the password and puts me (and everyone who will find my device) pleasantly inside, to perform any action: the bank's site.
