Joe Biden's government extended the closure of the border with Canada and Mexico to all non-essential travel on Friday again, citing the need to stop the spread of COVID-19 and despite growing pressure to lift this restriction.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) explained on the social network Twitter that the restrictions are still necessary to minimize the spread of the coronavirus and its delta variant.
