The Supreme Court today (Friday) heard an appeal by the State Attorney's Office against the decision of the Nazareth District Court to release Roman Zadorov, who is accused of the murder of the late girl Tair Rada in 2016, under house arrest.
At the beginning of the hearing, Judge Alex Stein ruled that the decision in the matter will be made on Tuesday at the latest, in the meantime the parties will argue and until then Zadorov will remain in custody in prison.
The state claims that Zadorov was sentenced to remain in custody behind bars during the retrial, on the grounds of the danger posed by him and the fear of escape.
The appeal also states that the state believes that even at this stage there is seemingly weighty evidence against Zadorov, and their examination against the other evidence, which led to the decision to hold the retrial, did not change the general fabric of evidence and did not justify changing his detention.
As you may recall, on Wednesday the Nazareth District Court approved Zadorov's request to be released under house arrest, as part of the retrial.
The prosecution has announced that it will seek a stay of execution of the decision to appeal to the Supreme Court.
Zadorov's defense attorney announced that he would not object to the delay in making the decision.
In addition, yesterday the prosecution requested an extension to file the amended indictment against Zadorov.
The judge whose voice sought the defense's response to the motion by next Sunday, after which he would publish his decision.
The judge said he was convinced that Zadorov would be able to meet the conditions for detention by electronic restraint, and accepted the supervisors presented by Zadorov's attorney except one.
