Britney Spears was charged with battery by an employee following a dispute at the singer's California home on Monday, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department told CNN.
The staff member alleges he was beaten by Spears, according to investigators who are still reviewing the incident.

"This is tabloid tabloid hype, nothing more than (a controversy of the kind) 'he said, she said' made with respect to a cell phone, no bumps and obviously no injuries of any kind," said Mathew Rosengart, attorney for Spears, in a statement to CNN.
"Anyone can make an accusation, but this should have been closed immediately."

The Sheriff's Department spokesman said the agency expects to conclude its investigation this week.
They will then submit their report to the Ventura County District Attorney to determine if a possible misdemeanor charge of battery is warranted.
Spears is currently embroiled in a lengthy legal battle to end the court-ordered guardianship she has been living under for 13 years.
