A woman named Amy uploaded to a popular Facebook page a photo she took at her best friend's house, in which a huge egg can be seen hanging near the ceiling.
The bizarre egg, dubbed the "Dinosaur Egg" network, managed to deter millions of viewers who broke their heads over who laid it and failed to come up with any comforting answer.
The Australian mother shared the photo on the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas Facebook page and wrote: "It's out of my girlfriend's son's wardrobe. They do not know if it has always been there and they have never seen it - or if it just appeared there all of a sudden. They moved there. "Recently. Anyone have any ideas what this is? What should they do?"

The post caused a stir on the net, as many tried to decipher the source of the egg and came to the obvious conclusion that it was a giant spider.
One explained in the comments: "My other half used to be an exterminator and he believes it is a spider's egg nest. You can pump it away and then put a lot of spider pesticide in the vacuum cleaner. If it is a spider nest - then there will be thousands."
Another added: "Oh no. I would not have touched it. Call the exorcists immediately!".
Another user was amused: "If it was a picture from a billion years ago, I would say for sure you have a dinosaur egg in the house."
After an interrogation of Amy's mother-in-law, it was discovered that it was not an egg at all.
The egg-like material is simply polyurethane foam for sealing and insulation that comes from the ceiling of the house.
The discovery disappointed many: "Say, is it wrong that I am quite disappointed? I was expecting something exciting", one reporter and another added: "Well it was an anti-climax!".
