The training course in the field of accessory manufacturing that Mai Lama Kiwan underwent 12 years ago in the former Women's Union was not just an opportunity to spend time and entertainment, but was a title for starting a stage of work that culminated in a micro-project that knew its launch in the village of Sahwa Al-Khader in the southeastern countryside of As-Suwayda.
Mai, 44 years old, the daughter of the Mujahid Youssef Lama Kiwan, stated during her interview with SANA reporter that her project was not limited to manufacturing accessories for women and men, but was also accompanied by the manufacture of various woolen crafts on a single hook, from whom she had previously learned from her mother, in addition to what she does in the manufacture of molasses and raisins products during the seasons. and sell it.
Mai O Om Ribal, as she is called, indicated that she finds pleasure in working in her project, which helps her support herself at home, her mother and her only son, who was a child when the project was launched, and nowadays he sometimes shares her work in it in terms of marketing products whose design takes great time and effort and requires precise skill. work.
Mai relies on marketing her production, as I mentioned, on customer requests submitted to her, in addition to participating in many exhibitions, including previously the Damascus International Fair for two sessions, the exhibitions of rural women and the Syrian Association for the Physically Handicapped.
Umm Ribal, who previously worked in the manufacture of dairy and cheese and trained women in the field of accessory manufacturing in the Rural Women's Department of the Directorate of Agriculture, expressed her willingness today to train any woman who wants to acquire a profession and establish a project, free of charge without any compensation, believing in the value of these projects that eliminate the leisure time for women and bring benefit. Their financial resources reveal at the same time that they are seeking to expand their project and provide job opportunities in it.
According to the head of the Rural Women’s Department in the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida, engineer Mohsna Abu Samra, Mai has previously participated with the Directorate in two exhibitions in Damascus and an exhibition in Suwayda for accessories and food products, through an elaborate work that reflects the state of excellence among rural women.
Adnan Kiwan, a resident of the village of Sahwa Al-Khader, pointed to the success of Mai's experience with micro-business, stressing the importance of continuing to expand it and the need to help her with other distinguished rural women in marketing their products through permanent exhibitions.
