The plastic artist, Farid Shankan, devotes his long experience in the traditional Damascene arts, including miniatures, Arabesque and Ajami, to create plastic works that brimming with the aesthetics of these arts, and this is what he reflected through his painting of Syrian miniatures within the Syrian collective exhibition in Ukraine, which is currently held in the capital, Kiev. About his participation, the artist Shankan said in a statement to SANA. The work entitled “Syrian miniatures” measuring 70 x 50 cm, using acrylic technology on canvas, and this exhibition is the second for us as Syrian artists in Ukraine after the electronic plastic exhibition held by the leadership of the Syrian community in Ukraine last year for a group of Syrian artists

Shenkan explained that the exhibition is a real opportunity to introduce contemporary Syrian plastic art in Ukraine to build bridges of cultural communication between Syrian artists and the Ukrainian public, especially with the members of the Syrian community there, noting that such exhibitions are important to break the siege on Syria and give a luminous picture of Syrian art and culture in general to the whole world. .

Shenkan pointed out that his choice of the Syrian miniature painting came with the aim of showing details of the Syrian heritage within the exhibition, including the houses, decorations and local dress that the painting contained, in addition to symbolic expressionism as a plastic art method that he adopted in creating and composing the painting, considering his participation in the exhibition as a representation of his homeland Syria and his people who are worthy of art. civilization and beauty.

It is noteworthy that the exhibition is being held as part of a cultural event organized by the Syrian Honorary Consulate in the capital, Kiev, in cooperation with the leadership of the Syrian community in Ukraine and under the supervision of the sculptor Afif Agha, on the occasion of the founding day of the Syrian Arab Army.
