Bichl

- A few days ago, the Bichler vet Diana Ruf picked up the stork from Alfred Aigner's bird station in Otterfing and brought him back to the Loisach Valley.

“It has grown quite a bit again,” reports Ruf.

He survived the journey in the transport box well.

After opening it took off without any problems and flew away straight away.

“He's probably now living in the Loisach-Kochelsee moor,” says the veterinarian.

Together with members of the Bichler fire brigade, Ruf saved the young bird's life in mid-July.

A train driver had reported that a small stork was hanging upside down in the bushes in continuous rain.

The animal helpers freed the bird, but it was very weak and had injured its wing.

It was probably one of his first attempts to fly not far from his parents' nest at the train station.

After the first care in Rufs' practice, she took the animal to the rescue and care station in Otterfing, where the animal now recovered well.

The stork was the only still living young of one of the parents.

All three have now left the nest and probably live in the region.

"It can be assumed that they will come here again next spring to build their nests," says the Bichler veterinarian.
