The surface design of Egerlandstrasse in the New Center is a done deal.

The first orders will be advertised this summer.

They are to be awarded in autumn so that part of the civil engineering work can be done this year.

Geretsried - Work is currently being carried out on the new residential complex and business line (BGZ2) of the building cooperative on Egerlandstrasse, as well as on the new building for the Sparkasse with an underground car park.

The threads for the major construction site come together at the cooperative.

"We will hand over the first part of the street to the city at the end of September or beginning of October," announced managing director Wolfgang Selig to our newspaper.

This part is at the northern end of the construction site.

There are a total of seven fields that are to be handed over to the city step by step.

“But we are flexible there.” Because at the moment the only access to the construction site is there.

Four million euros will flow into road construction

The city plans to invest almost four million euros in road construction and surface design. In the meeting before the summer break, the city council approved the implementation planning with a large majority after an employee of the commissioned engineering office had explained the planning. The final course of the road was also presented again. The expert told the meeting that articulated trucks and buses were allowed to drive through the street. “It all works.” The teardrop-shaped roundabout at the confluence of Fasanenweg and Egerlandstraße - it is right in front of the entrance to the underground car park in the south - was initially controversial. Now it is built that way. The northern part of the Egerlandstrasse is a bit higher than the southern part. In addition, the street has a south-west gradient. "We're draining away from BGZ2",said the expert with a view to the current heavy rain events.

The graphic shows how the shopping street should look in the future.

Like Karl-Lederer-Platz, Egerlandstrasse will become a traffic-calmed area and will be designed accordingly.

Planting islands and a fountain should provide more quality of stay.

A fountain is planned in the crossing area.

The bus stops are located approximately at the level of the Sparkasse building (on the right in the picture).

In the future, the roadway will no longer be bolt-straight on Egerlandstrasse.

It bends in front of the two underground car park ramps and the lanes split open.

In between there are planting islands such as those on Karl-Lederer-Platz.

A fountain with round stones reminiscent of Isar pebbles is planned in the center of the T-Zone.

One bus stop is planned for each direction of travel in the area of the Sparkasse.

And an old friend will return to Egerlandstrasse: The gorilla sculpture is to be put up again, not far from its old location.

Planning period until 2024

According to Wolfgang Selig, the civil engineering work is a relatively complicated matter.

"With the well, the rain drainage, the bases for the lamps and the foundations, it is already tricky," says the BG managing director.

Even if the city starts civil engineering work this year - it will still be a while before Egerlandstrasse in the Neue Mitte is finished.

The planning period extends until 2024.
