The officer wanted to mediate - and was the target of brute force: After a brutal incident in which a group of schoolchildren attacked an officer, the State Criminal Police Office in Hamburg is investigating dangerous bodily harm.

Students had kicked the 53-year-old officer in the head on Thursday afternoon in the Eimsbüttel district near the Ida Ehre school, the authorities reported.

Previously, the policeman, who was out on a bicycle and who works as a so-called Cop4U ("Policeman for You") in the school environment, tried to settle a dispute between two children.

A large cluster of other children and young people had already formed around the arguing.

A 13-year-old known to the police had hidden a hand under his jacket and did not take it out when asked several times.

Therefore, the police had to assume that the boy could be armed, the authorities said.

The officer brought the 13-year-old to the ground against strong resistance and was then harassed and attacked by numerous other children and young people.

"Violence is neither accepted in nor in front of school!"

The mood in the incident was heated and rocked up, said a police spokesman on Saturday.

In the meantime, more than 80 students have been on site, it said.

According to the investigators, several kicks in the head of the police officer only had no consequences because the officer was wearing a bicycle helmet.

The crews of twelve patrol cars rushed to their colleague's help and finally brought the situation under control.

Previously, officials were also insulted, spat at and attacked.

Two 13-year-olds and one 12-year-old were subsequently taken into custody and later turned over to their legal guardians.

The State Criminal Police Office responsible for juvenile delinquency is now also investigating assaults against law enforcement officers, attempted release of prisoners and insults.

According to information from the Hamburg radio station NDR 90.3, one of the 13-year-olds is a suspended student from the Ida Ehre school.

School Senator Ties Rabe (SPD) was “horrified” by the dramatic incident: “Violence is neither accepted in nor in front of the school!

We will proceed with all consistency and severity, ”said the politician to the“ Hamburger Abendblatt ”.
