Opinion | The required decision - postponing the opening of studies to October | Israel today

The common deeds done in preparation for the opening of the school year are welcome.

However, some questions are asked.

• The Ministry of Education estimates that at least 5,000 people become infected a day, which is expected to cause local chaos in all kinds of classrooms and send many to isolation, danger of infecting adults and more.

Should not be postponed?

If we are in such an unstable and unclear situation, should we not make a decision to postpone school after the holidays, in order to allow parents and schools to get organized in the best possible way?

This is not a failure, and relatively not many school days.

And maybe a move like this will help really open up properly in October.

 • Green mark - important, but is it necessary at this stage in open areas such as a pool and restaurants outside?

If you were going to empty the pools and outdoor restaurants - you succeeded.

But perhaps it is an injury to many families without great gain.

Because outside, what to do - except for crowds of a football field or hundreds of crowds, not so dangerous.

We were already in a movie where cops chase a surfer at sea, and today it is quite clear that this is not the goal.

• There is a lot of talk, and rightly so, about the welfare of children - but we remain in the concept of "zoom or not zoom".

No zoom - obviously better than basic, but why not try learning in the open air, outside the classroom, in the many places where it is possible?

It's good for kids, and it's good for teachers.

Learning outside will allow for a great and special learning experience.

Not everywhere is possible, preparation is required, but why not?

• 70% are vaccinated or recovering.

Well, that's just a number that could have been 80%, or like California 100%.

A distinction should be made between children up to the age of 12, who cannot be vaccinated, and those aged 12 and over who can.

Either way, as soon as someone has an infectious disease - he will send everyone away for isolation.

• Are you following the ultra-Orthodox education system that is already working?

There is something to learn and apply.

There is an impression of a significant increase, as there was last year, and that is exactly what will happen to us as well.

Let’s assume there will be a significant increase in the way they are going to open.

• It is true that there are articles that the opening of schools did not cause an increase in morbidity.

This is a reason to open and not leave at home, but let there be no doubt - there will be an increase in infection, and this must be prepared for.

Serological tests - may help assess the condition.

There are already kits in the world that can evaluate on a saliva test what young children do by taking blood and stabbing.

In conclusion, there is much more to prepare, think and test.
