The days of the Caritas crèche and the Caritas kindergarten Teresa-Maria on Gaar-Wiese on Kramerstrasse are numbered.

The town hall administration is checking whether the two facilities can move to an area on Bahnhofstrasse - right next to the after-school care center, which is also operated by Caritas.

Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) announced this in the local council.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

- The administration will not only check whether a relocation of the day-care centers is possible, but will also determine the costs required for this. If a move is not possible, the municipal administration should alternatively investigate to what extent the existing container system on the Gaar-Wiese can be roofed over to better protect children and staff.

Leaving the situation as it is is not possible in Konwitschny's view.

After all, the container construction on Kramerstrasse was only intended as a temporary solution, the mayor recalls.

The original plan was to build a children's house in the course of the development of a larger area diagonally opposite the Erich-Kästner-Schule south of Bunnthaler Straße, in which Caritas and its childcare facilities should have been housed.

But the planning for the development of the area is stalling, and the provisional facility on the Gaar-Wiese has been in existence for several years.

Not good ventilation and insulation

"We now need a sensible solution," emphasizes Konwitschny. Because the status quo has several disadvantages. The containers are now getting on in years. You can't ventilate well, and the insulation isn't optimal either. "It's very cold in the rooms in winter and pretty hot in summer," says Konwitschny. There is also a lack of a roof and proper shade when the children are playing outside. In addition, the agency lost synergy effects because it had to operate two care facilities at different locations.

Another important point: Currently, two centrally located properties are blocked, says Konwitschny.

The Gaar-Wiese is privately owned, the community has leased the property.

The property at the train station belongs to the community itself. The new town center of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is actually planned here, with a new town hall and possibly a market square.

There is still space next to the after-school care center

But for the time being, the Caritas after-school care groups have been accommodated in the former Guggenberger building.

According to Mayor Konwitschny, it makes sense to put the crèche and kindergarten next to it.

There is no more space in the building itself.

There is also enough reason for that.

A container building could be built there, but with modern containers “which also correspond to the standard”, as the mayor emphasizes.
