A truck full of

cigarettes entered illegally

from Paraguay ran over a young motorcyclist who was traveling along provincial route 20, near the town of Pozo Azul, in the province of Misiones.

The smugglers abandoned the vehicle with the load and so far they could not be identified or detained by the police.

Around 12:30 on Friday, the Police were alerted about an accident in an area known as "Portón Viejo".

When the agents arrived, they found a Corven 110 motorcycle lying on the asphalt and a few meters away

the body of its driver

, Walter Villalba (27), a member of a

Mbyá

village

in the area.

The young man was driving towards San Pedro and

was hit from behind

by a Chevrolet Captiva truck that was traveling at high speed with two occupants and a load of

12,000 packages of

Paraguayan

cigarettes

that had been smuggled in.

The shipment came from Paraguay.

Due to the heavy impact, both front airbags of the vehicle were activated, both of which were

unharmed

.

Neighbors in the area saw them move away quickly after verifying that the damage to the truck prevented them from continuing their journey.

Police spokesmen said that the vehicle is located in the Province of Buenos Aires and reports were requested to establish whether it was stolen.

The Captiva, in black, was

adapted for the transport of large loads

, since it did not have the rear seats and the rear door panels had also been removed to increase the load capacity.

The illegal shipment is valued at 1.8 million pesos.

The cigarette shipment has a fiscal value of 1,800,000 pesos and the investigators do not rule out that it was destined for the Brazilian market.

The police doctor established that Villalba

died instantly

due to numerous blows and fractures in different parts of the body.

The judge investigating the incident ordered that the body be handed over to his relatives, who reside in the Yacutinga Village, for burial.
