A 60-year-old woman was killed today (Sunday) as a result of a tree collapsing on the promenade in Tiberias.
MDA teams arrived at the scene and found her trapped under a broken tree and collapsed, and were forced to determine her death. The tree apparently collapsed due to strong winds that raged in the city.
David Marisen, a paramedic from the Rescue Union who first arrived at the scene, said: "This is a tree that collapsed on a passer-by as a result of the strong winds. Unfortunately, her death was determined at the scene due to the nature of the serious injuries she suffered."
Senior MDA paramedic Yoel Nagar said: "When we reached the promenade, we saw the wounded woman lying on the lawn trapped under a large tree trunk that collapsed and hit her.
"In parallel with her rescue operations, we performed medical tests, but she was without signs of life and suffered a very severe multi-system injury and we have no choice but to determine her death."

"There have been strong winds here for long hours," he said until the incident.
"I looked out the window first and saw the trees moving dangerously. It was scary. Even though the incident was right next to the boardwalk visitors don't really notice that anything happened. They were walking around the area not knowing that someone had tragically died just meters away from them."
