Kabul - Several people are said to have died at Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.

Recordings by the British television broadcaster Sky News showed on Saturday (August 21, 2021) how soldiers covered at least three bodies with white tarpaulins.

What the people died of was initially unclear.

Several injured people could also be seen on the TV pictures.

Apparently people were "squeezed" in the crowd at Kabul airport, reports Sky News reporter Stuart Ramsay.

Rescue workers had rushed from one injured person to another.

According to Ramsay, the people waiting at the airport are "dehydrated and in a panic".

The reporter also filmed soldiers who spray the waiting people with a water hose to cool down.
