The Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (22) urged the public not to consume two imported British snacks, namely Mr. Porky Crispy Strips and Mr. Porky Original Scratchings, because the foods concerned may be contaminated by the pathogenic bacteria Salmonella.
If the industry holds the affected products, they should stop using or selling them immediately.
Both foods are imported from the United Kingdom, which scared Crispy Strips and Original Scratchings for the same brand, Mr. Porky.
The sole importer is Jinbao Co., Ltd.

A spokesperson for the center said that it was notified by the British authorities through the International Food Safety Authority Network that the two products may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The British Food Standards Agency and Public Health Agency of the United Kingdom are investigating the incident, and related products are being recalled.
According to information from the International Food Safety Authority Network, the affected products have been imported into Hong Kong.
After learning about the incident, the center immediately contacted major local importers and retailers to follow up. Initial investigations revealed that the above-mentioned sole importer had imported the affected products.

The spokesman pointed out that Salmonella infection can cause fever and gastrointestinal discomfort, such as vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Such pathogenic bacteria may have serious effects on infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems, and may even cause death.
The spokesman urged members of the public to stop eating the affected products.
