Durach - The election campaign is slowly entering its hot phase and the parties can still use the low incidences to get in direct contact with the electorate. The same was done by the SPD Kempten, which welcomed the new chairman of the BayernSPD Ronja Endres in Durach last weekend. She was accompanied on her full-day visit by her party friend Martin Holderied, who is running for the SPD as a direct candidate for the Bundestag in the local constituency of 256.

The stay in the Allgäu started with a visit to trade unionists in the DGB building in Kempten, followed by a tour of the Topp Textil GmbH company in Durach.

On the one hand, the family company is certified for the common good and sets standards in terms of employee-friendliness and sustainability.

"The Topp company proves that you can survive on the market even in difficult sectors such as the textile industry with a company headquarters in Germany", says Ronja Endres and adds: "Topp Textil GmbH brings economic efficiency, employee-friendliness and climate protection under one roof." Because each other the factory tour dragged on, the social democratic entourage reached the summer festival in Kirchenweg in Durach a little late.

Chair introduces herself

After a short greeting, the new chairman of the BayernSPD Ronja Endres took the microphone.

She also enjoys the opportunity to talk directly to voters once again and asked the audience for greetings from the co-chairman of BayernSPD Florian von Brunn.

According to the native Upper Bavarian from Penzberg, the latest polls by the ZDF political barometer give her hope.

They show Martin Schulz, his own candidate for chancellor, in first place among candidates for the Chancellery with 44 percent.

The SPD is also catching up with the other polls, according to Endres.

At the moment, the second vote would be 20.5 percent, thus overtaking the Greens for the first time.

"We demand respect" - that is the motto of the SPD election campaign, says Endres, and thus has primarily the rights of young people and workers in view. For the youth, she would like to introduce a binding “youth check” analogous to the “climate check” of the Greens, which is supposed to examine the extent to which young people make political decisions.

Ronja Endres speaks of Hartz IV as a monster that she considers a mistake in social democratic politics. "We will iron out past mistakes on this point and instead want to establish citizens' money," says Endres. In addition, the new chairman calls for a minimum wage of 14 euros and would like to abolish the indefinite time limit for employment contracts, because this often leads to open-ended employment contracts to the detriment of employees. It is essential, however, that the SPD manage to reconcile climate change with the social issue. This is where the SPD differs from the Greens, who all too often let low-wage earners "foot the bill".

The new chairman of the BayernSPD showed the differences to her predecessor Natascha Kohnen on the sunny afternoon.

More down-to-earth attitude instead of an academic attitude.

Endres makes no secret of growing up in a household with an unemployed mother and is proud, among other things, of her dual training as a chemical laboratory assistant.

Your resume on the Internet is pleasantly tangible.

Also present on the election campaign excursion was Martin Holderied, who is running for the SPD as a member of the Bundestag in constituency 256.

“If local hero Gerd Müller had raced again, I would not have allowed myself to be lined up.

But with the current CSU candidate, I definitely think there will be opportunities, ”said Holderied in an interview.

The 31-year-old from Lindenberg studied economics and political science and is currently working on his doctoral thesis.

The parents run a bakery in their hometown.

For Holderied, it is important to support regional handicrafts and medium-sized businesses.

In terms of education policy, he would like to advance three points: digitization, fast internet and optimization of homeschooling.

For Holderied, too, there is one question in the focus of his political commitment: "We have to reconcile climate protection with the social question," said the native of West Allgäu.

“Electricity prices and fuel costs must remain affordable.

In rural regions in particular, a car must be affordable as long as local public transport is not better developed.

The latter is a challenge that we Social Democrats are working hard on. "
