With the hands of women trained in work and production within the Charitable Society for the Relief of the Needy in Douma, school uniforms are prepared for about 7,000 students and distributed for free before the start of the school year.

Among the sewing workshop that the association established to employ the most needy women, a number of them indicated in statements to SANA that work and production increased their ability to improve their financial conditions, which gave them a feeling of happiness to be able to draw a smile on the faces of orphans and needy people who are prepared for dress on holidays and other seasons.

The worker, Mayas Barghala, said that the association, in addition to helping the needy and the poor and sponsoring orphans, has established women’s employment and training projects, noting that work is currently underway to prepare the school uniform, which was started about a month and a half ago, and during the coming period, winter clothing will be started, stressing that its work is within the association He empowered her economically after she underwent a training course in which she learned how to cut and sew.

During her follow-up to the women's work, Samar Obeid, supervisor of the Al-Bilaj section in the sewing workshop, indicated that the work in the association includes charitable projects related to clothing children and the needy during holidays and others. She said: We are now working to secure school uniforms and shoes for students.

Haifa Ibrahim, the supervisor of the cutting and detailing department, indicated in turn that her work in the association began 9 years ago, during which she learned sewing and how to design the template via a computer and print it on paper and then cut the fabric according to the designed model after matching the design, stressing that the work helped her secure a decent living for her and her family. The important thing is that preparing clothes for children and students contributes to drawing joy on their faces and gives a feeling of satisfaction with work.

The supervisor of the association’s work in Douma, Muhammad Bakkar, stated that the workshop currently includes 60 female workers who underwent training and empowerment courses over a period of 4 months, after which they moved to work and production within the workshop, which includes about 100 sewing machines.

Bakkar pointed out that work is underway to secure school uniforms and distribute them to about 7,000 students, noting that the association has managed over the past years to develop its work and expand its production, and recently created a new line for the production of jeans, estimated at 400 pants per month, marketed through the association's projects office.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Society, Tawfiq Al-Barghout, stated that the Society was established in 1960 after one of the people donated the building, and the Society’s work expanded with the support of the civil society and cared for about 4,000 orphans and provided them with financial and in-kind aid on a monthly basis. One of the owners of the white hands accepted and was damaged by terrorism, stressing that the association did not stop working during the years of the terrorist war and was supportive of the needy and students through its staff of about 40 administrative employees.
