The restoration work of the Museum of Folk Traditions continues in the Jdeideh neighborhood, which is one of the historic houses of Aleppo that was vandalized and destroyed as a result of terrorism.
SANA’s camera monitored the restoration and maintenance work that is taking place at a high rate. The engineer, Pierre Ghassan Zarz, the contractor of the restoration project, in cooperation with the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums in Aleppo, stated that the restoration operations are currently underway in its second phase, which includes the courtyard of the house, which is distinguished by its unique decorations, to restore it to its original state, with specialized local expertise.
Engineer Zarz adds that the restoration operations include sculptural works for stones and construction works for facades and ceilings, with great care for heritage details, especially the old ornate stones, the rest of which are being restored and similar stones are carved in the completely destroyed parts, stressing that the second phase of the restoration work will be completed within 10 days to start the stage. The third is to complete the repairs.
He pointed out that the Folklore Museum is one of the most important monuments that attract visitors from all over the world, due to its unique architecture and decorations.
With a hammer and a chisel, the sculptor Omar Walid Sahrij sculpts the stones to make them resemble the original archaeological stones, a large part of which was destroyed, in order to complete the reconstructive construction works in the museum, stressing that the restoration work is carried out with great care and care, in addition to carving new stones with the same ancient archaeological decorations by hand, carefully and thoughtfully.
The worker, Mahmoud Bitar, powerfully and skillfully taps the polished hard stones with a hand-held machine called Al-Shahouta, which resembles a hammer and is used to make the surface of the stones rough in harmony with the ancient ancient stones.
