Engie begins construction of its new flagship at La Garenne-Colombes

2021-08-23T06:40:41.621Z

The titanic Campus site has just started, after three years of preparation. Employees of the energy giant should quit

"This time, we are getting into the hard ..." Arnaud Robail (LR), deputy mayor at La Garenne-Colombes, assures him: "It will be colossal.

“After three years of preparation, work on Engie's future campus has just started.

The energy giant is building its new headquarters, the Campus, on the ZAC PSA, a 9-hectare plot bordered by Boulevard National, Rue des Fauvelles and Rue Jules-Ferry.

In the longer term, the development of two other contiguous sites, that of the RATP warehouse and the ZAC Charlebourg, will complete the renewal of this 16-hectare sector, between the Champs-Philippe district and La Défense.

By then, Engie's headquarters will be raised from the ground - in 2024 if the deadlines are met - and the troops will have left their tower of La Défense in 2025.

"We cover four buildings of six and seven floors over 95,000 m² with, in its middle, the Heart, a low building with amphitheater, showroom, a kind of third place that we can occasionally open to the public", details Marion Carrouge, of the Campus team at Engie.

A park will bring greenery to an ensemble that wants to be virtuous in terms of energy management.

"We must be exemplary when it comes to energy savings"

With this Campus, Engie affirms that it wants to integrate into the municipality and put an end to the oasis system as in La Défense: an isolated headquarters in the middle of the concrete. "The green space will cross the Campus to join the 2 hectare park that the city wants to create," continues Marion Carrouge. In addition, our buildings will have green terraces on the fourth floor. This site must be an island of freshness. We must be exemplary, be as efficient as possible in terms of energy savings. There is also no question of a radical break with the neighboring Champs-Philippe.

About 80% of the heating and cooling will be provided by deep geothermal energy. The device will be supplemented by solar panels and, for back-up, by biogas. Enough to make the new headquarters an “energy hub”. The operation also promises to be green with recovery and storage of rainwater for sanitation and watering, generalized composting, short circuit supply for catering ...

In total, the Campus will have 6,000 workstations able to accommodate 8,000 employees, thanks to teleworking and flex-office.

Even if the new headquarters are only 700 meters as the crow flies from the one to which it will succeed, employees will be invited to favor gentle circulation.

“We will install 700 m² of premises for bicycles with changing rooms and showers on the ground floor,” continues Marion Carrouge.

We are also going to negotiate to obtain more cycle paths.

This is not done by snapping the fingers, but we have time by 2025. We anticipate.

"

"We are talking about pharaonic achievements"

So that residents are not excluded from the operation, a building will be equipped with a medical practice open to all and a sports hall, for example.

To achieve this, no less than 1,000 workers will invest this land and dozens of construction machines will crisscross the local roads.

“There will inevitably be nuisances, announces Arnaud Robail.

It won't be easy.

"

This project is only the beginning.

The overall project involves the construction of housing, offices and business premises.

How much ?

Impossible to say now.

The health crisis and the explosion of teleworking have made these constructions less interesting for developers.

"We are negotiating with the developer Nexity and the Paris - La Défense establishment," adds the deputy mayor.

Building less tertiary premises means building more housing and therefore more equipment and public services.

Be careful, the city must also find its way financially.

No question of getting into debt because of that… ”

The last element will be the construction of the RATP bus center, an underground facility.

A technical feat to dig this huge pit 50 meters deep, all electrified to recharge the electric buses.

This operation began to take shape three years ago, in July 2018. An agreement between all the parties had been reached just a few hours before the city council supposed to ratify it. “This project will shape the future of the city, insists Arnaud Robail. We are talking about pharaonic achievements. We still have ten years! "
