At ept, we want to make a virtue out of necessity.
The connector manufacturer is investing in a new IT training center in Peiting so that it can employ its own specialists.

- Nothing works today without computers, this applies to small companies, but of course even more so for large companies.

But those who are supposed to implement these challenges are correspondingly in demand.
The need for IT specialists is high, and like many other companies, connector manufacturers also find it difficult to adequately fill positions.
New training center from autumn 2022
In order to remedy the situation, ept intends to focus more on its own offspring in the future. A new IT training center is to go into operation in Peiting from September 2022. According to Managing Director Thomas Guglhör, the company plans to take 3.5 million euros into its own hands over the next ten years to train the IT specialists of tomorrow. A dedicated trainer should take care of the supervision and training.
At the beginning, the professions IT specialist for system integration and businessman for IT system management are offered.
From 2023, the job of IT specialist for application technology is to be added.
Corresponding apprenticeships have already been offered in the past, but not regularly, says Irina Lew, Head of Corporate Communications.
That should change with the new training center.
Completely new is the option of a dual course of study to become a business IT specialist, including training as an IT specialist for system integration or for data and process analysis.
ept is already relying on its own trainees
According to plan, a total of 22 trainees and students in the IT area should be ready by 2030. Ept is already relying on its own trainees in many areas and has had positive experiences with them. "It was therefore now a logical step for us to expand this in the IT division as well," says Lew. In 2021, the company had 31 young professionals, and the new offers are expected to add six more each year.
Basically, dealing with IT hardware and software is the focus of all IT professions.
IT specialists for system integration plan and configure IT systems, i.e. set them up and then operate or manage them.
The application developers, on the other hand, develop functions or even entire programs for handling and automating internal company processes, the so-called business processes.
The IT salespeople, in turn, are also responsible for commercial tasks, such as handling order processes or the planning software as a service for project management.

At ept, we are already looking forward to the new trainees and students in the new IT training center.
Human Resources Manager Joachim Ruber: "We would like to give committed young people even more opportunities for a good training in a popular occupation."
Because of Corona, they are breaking new ground to inform trainees: In Schongau there was the first online training fair this year.
